Magic!, Shad and more to perform at the 2015 Canada Day celebration in Ottawa

If you're looking for something to do on Canada Day you might want to consider heading to Ottawa. Shad, Magic!, Francesco Yates, Gord Bamford and Marc Dupré are just some of the performers who are set to take the stage at Canada's 148th birthday celebrations in the country's capital.

Heritage Minister Shelly Glover shared the exciting news Monday morning during a press conference.

Other famous faces who will perform at the July 1 event, include Andee, "Blue Skies & Bright Eyes"singer Cassidy Mann, Jonas, Karim Ouellet, Brigitte Boisjoli and The Jerry Cans. The Hudson's Bay Company was announced as the event's new title sponsor.

Focusing on the theme "Strong. Proud. Free." many of the day’s activities will focus on important moments in Canada’s history. There will be events highlighting the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sir John A. Macdonald as well as the Year of Sport. The 50th anniversary of the country’s flag will also be commemorated.

Split between three venues, the country's annual birthday bash will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks display, including well over 1,000 fireworks, at 10 p.m.

In her speech to media this morning, Minster Glover hinted that one other special performer will take the stage on Parliament Hill after 7:30 p.m., but final details are still being confirmed.

The annual event attracts well over 300,000 people each year.
