More details revealed about Prince William and Duchess Kate's March Ireland trip

Duchess Kate and Prince William are gearing up for their royal tour of Ireland from March 3 to March 5, and more thrilling details have been released about their itinerary.

On Feb. 25, a statement was released outlining how William and Kate will "take in Ireland's rich culture" while visiting Dublin, County Meath, County Kildare and Galway. Te Duke and Duchess of Cambridge say they will focus on the relationship between Ireland and the UK.

The itinerary is built "on the theme of remembrance and reconciliation." The trip will see the couple learning about local organizations that support and empower young people as well as those that highlight Ireland's conservation efforts. There will be a specific focus on sustainable farming and marine conservation.

William and Kate will meet many people of the Republic of Ireland during the visit across different sectors and places, including President Michael D. Higgins, the Taoiseach or Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, along with other senior political leaders.

The royal tour will also see the duke and duchess experience traditional Irish culture as well as more modern elements. It sounds like it will be a memorable trip!

"The UK’s links with Ireland are extensive, and The Duke and Duchess are looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the Irish people," the statement reads.

This is William and Kate's first official visit to Ireland, but quite a number of royals have visited in recent years. In 2011, the Queen had a history-making visit to the country. She became the first British royal to visit Ireland in 100 years.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan went on a two-day tour of Ireland in July 2018, which marked their first royal tour outside the United Kingdom as a married couple.

In May 2019, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla toured Ireland. Similar to William and Kate's itinerary, Charles and Camilla took in traditional culture and political engagements, including enjoying an Irish dance performance and meeting with Ireland's president.

We can't wait to see what exciting things William and Kate will do in Ireland!

The couple recently had a week off, where they enjoyed a relaxed February half-term holiday with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The Cambridge family went lambing while spending some time at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.

Before heading to Ireland, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will attend a performance of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noël Coward Theatre in London on Feb. 25. The staging is in aid of The Royal Foundation and the couple will meet with cast members after the show.
