The Royal Family is hiring someone to handle all their travel arrangements

If you’re in need of a new job and have always dreamed of working for the Royal Family, you may be in luck – they’re looking for a new Director of Royal Travel!

The job pays the equivalent of $146,000 a year and requires 37.5 hours of work a week. You’re also required to have strong leadership and management skills, “good communication… and interpersonal skills,” negotiating skills and an ability to “resolve conflicting demands” and “analyze complex situations and provide soundly based advice.”

The successful candidate will be based at Buckingham Palace and obviously need to travel quite a bit overseas and within the UK. They will also be required to ensure “the Royal Household operates and purchases safe, efficient, cost effective and appropriate travel services for the official duties of Members of the Royal Family and their Households.” It encompasses all planning for air travel, the Queen’s travel by helicopter and all train services including the Royal Train and requires paying attention to “security, safety and environmental considerations.”

To give you an idea of the types of people who’ve held this role before, the most recent Director of Royal Travel was Patrick Lacey, according to Tatler. He has a degree in Defence Studies from the Royal Naval College Dartmouth, and previously worked for the Royal Navy as its Aviation Safety Manager and the UK Ministry of Defence’s Military Aviation Authority. That’s quite an impressive career background, so it makes sense that the job posting requires “experience of operations and financial management of travel and logistics in an environment where safety and high standards are of paramount importance.”

If you’re interested, you’ll need to apply before Dec. 20.
