Sarah Ferguson says Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will marry in the UK

With another royal wedding on the horizon, proud mother Sarah Ferguson has confirmed her daughter Princess Beatrice and her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will marry in the UK, not in Italy as had been rumoured in the press.

The Duchess of York confirmed the wedding would happen in the Royal Family’s home country in an interview with the Press Association at the British Film Institute Luminous Gala on Oct. 7.

“It can only be Britain, and anyway, don’t believe what you read,” she said.

Buckingham Palace announced Beatrice and Edoardo’s engagement on Sept. 26, stating Edo had popped the question when the two were away in Italy earlier in the month. The two are set to wed some time in 2020, but a date has yet to be announced.

Sarah, meanwhile, said she couldn’t be happier about her daughter’s engagement.

“It’s just extraordinary, she’s just such a beauty and to see her eyes shining…” she said at the gala.

This will be the second royal wedding in just a few years for the York family. Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018. The Yorks have known Edoardo since he was a boy, and he and Beatrice were friends long before they began dating last year.

“I’ve known Edo since I was four, and he’s got a lovely mum, Nikki. It’s really, really good news. I’m really, really proud of them both,” Sarah said.

“For mums out there, oh my gosh, you know what, I never understood what it is to have tears of joy because I’ve looked at mothers at weddings and I’m going, ‘Oh yeah, yeah, yeah it’s good news.’ No, no, you really feel it because they’re your babies.”

A venue also has yet to be announced for the nuptials, but there’s a good chance Beatrice and Edoardo could marry at the same location as Eugenie and Jack: St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. It was also the location of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s wedding in 2018, and hosted the wedding ceremony for Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston this past May.
