Duchess Kate, Prince William and the kids fly to Scotland for holiday at Balmoral with the Queen

Imagine sitting on a flight and discovering the people in the first few rows are members of the Royal Family! That was the case for several passengers this week, who discovered they were flying with Duchess Kate, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Kate’s parents and the family nanny.

The Cambridges were pictured arriving in Scotland on a FlyBe flight from Norwich to Aberdeen on Aug. 21, according to the Daily Mail. The family were likely travelling to the Balmoral estate to spend a holiday with the Queen and Prince Philip. The publication obtained video that shows William leaving the plane with George and Charlotte, while Kate carries baby Louis and nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo accompanies them all.

“The family were sat right at the front,” a passenger told the Daily Mail. “I fly this route all the time and we were non the wiser. No one knew they were on the flight.

“Later on I realized that Kate’s mother was sat a few rows in front of me.”

Another passenger told The Sun he thought William was a soccer player before he realized he was staring at the future King of England, and only recognized the family when two black Range Rovers came to collect them in Aberdeen.

“They weren’t harassed by anyone at all as they got off the plane,” the passenger told the publication. “They just seemed like a family travelling together, to be honest.

“No one saw them get on the plane, either. It was amazing how they all did it – they must have slipped on quietly, after people were already seated.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes. You don’t expect to see royalty on a budget airliner.”

The Cambridge family were likely staying at their home at Anmer Hall prior to travelling to Scotland. Earlier this summer, they spent a vacation on the private Caribbean island of Mustique to celebrate George’s sixth birthday. George is due to start back at school very soon, as is his sister Charlotte – she will be joining him at Thomas’s Battersea in September.

The family will likely also spend a good deal of time with Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla while at Balmoral, since the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are currently holidaying at Birkhall nearby. William and Prince Harry have been coming to Balmoral every year since they were children, and Kate has travelled to the family estate since her university days when she first met William. The Cambridge children will likely also get some quality time in the great outdoors while there, engaging in fishing, hiking, and having barbeques with the family.

Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson and Princess Beatrice have already visited Balmoral this year, as have Prince Edward and Countess Sophie.
