Prince Harry and Meghan to spend a busy day in their namesake county of Sussex

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are heading to their namesake county next week for a busy day of engagements. Kensington Palace revealed the news on Twitter on Thursday (Sept. 27), saying, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will make their first official visit to Sussex on 3rd October." This will be their first official trip to the region for which they hold the title of Duke and Duchess.

Their visit will take the royal couple to both sides of Sussex. The palace continued, "In West Sussex they will see the historic Sussex Declaration & open @chiuni Tech Park." The Sussex Declaration is the only known parchment manuscript copy of the US Declaration of Independence, held at Edes House. From here, they'll travel to Bognor Regis along the coast, where they'll open the new Tech Park at the University of Chichester, a modern institution that promises to "inspire and enable individuals to exceed their expectations."

The royal pair will head to the other side of Sussex to take part in youth driven activities and see some sites. "In East Sussex they will visit the Royal Pavilion, @SurvivorsnetBtn & Peacehaven Youth Centre," said the palace. The Royal Pavilion in coastal Brighton was King George IV's seaside palace, as steeped in history as it is stunning with its intricate Indian and Chinese decor elements.

From the palace they'll walk to Survivors' Network, a rape crisis service where they'll meet people who have benefited from its services plus staff and volunteers, before ending the day at the JOFF Youth Centre in Peacehaven. Here, they'll meet young people from youth groups across the region.

On the day of their royal wedding, the Queen officially bestowed titles on Prince Harry and Meghan in a statement that read: "The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince Henry of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Sussex, Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel. Prince Harry thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex, and Ms. Meghan Markle on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex."
