How Meghan’s unprecedented outing shows the Royal Family’s confidence in her

Meghan Markle’s appearance at the Commonwealth Youth Forum in London on Wednesday (April 18) is yet another example of the confidence the Royal Family has in her to carry out official royal duties. High-profile events, such as those held during Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) week, are usually reserved for senior members of the Royal Family, making Meghan a rare royal fiancée to be invited to attend. For example, fellow Windsor women like the Duchess of Cambridge didn't carry out any official royal duties on behalf of the Queen until after their weddings.

The significance of her appearance did little to rattle the former Suits star as she showed no signs of nerves while mingling with young delegates from the 53 nations of the Commonwealth. Rocking a chic nautical-inspired ensemble, Meghan looked delighted to be helping Prince Harry carry out his duties as the recently named Commonwealth Youth Ambassador. The handsome prince received the official appointment from his grandmother, the Queen, on Monday (April 16).

Meghan met youth delegates from all over the Commonwealth.

Speaking at a forum shortly thereafter, Harry expressed his gratitude over being given the honour and how excited he is to share the job with his soon-to-be wife. "I am also incredibly grateful that the woman that I am about to marry, Meghan, will be joining me in this work, which she too is hugely excited to take part in," he told the crowd.

Time and time again, Prince Harry and Meghan are proving to be an exception to the royal rule. From celebrating Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham to joining Her Majesty at the Commonwealth Day service in March, the couple has been breaking royal tradition with every step of their courtship. Given that these historic outings would never have happened without the Royal Family's approval, it's clear that the Queen and Co. have nothing but love and confidence in Meghan and the role she will play in the monarchy.
