Joined by supportive husband Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie stepped out for the world premiere of her directorial debut, Unbroken, in Sydney on Monday night (Nov. 17) looking more radiant than ever.
It was the first time the newlyweds had walked a red carpet together since their August nuptials, which were exclusively covered by Hello!.
Angelina, 39, turned heads in a bespoke black-and-white lace Gucci gown with a fishtail train, teaming the glamorous number with a chignon bun and winged eyeliner. Brad, 50, was dapper in a black suit with a matching tie and a pair of sunglasses.
A crowd of thousands had gathered at Sydney's State Theatre to get a glimpse of the Hollywood couple, who took their time signing autographs and taking selfies with fans before making their way inside the theatre.
Filmed in Australia, Unbroken tells the story of army pilot and Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, who survived a plane crash at sea while enlisted during World War II. After spending 47 days adrift on a raft in the Pacific Ocean, he was captured by Japanese forces and imprisoned in a brutal prisoner-of-war camp for more than two years.
Angelina had previously described the real-life veteran — who passed away peacefully this past summer at age 97 in his Los Angeles home — as the "toughest man [she's] ever met," a "true hero" and a "man of faith."
The actress said she is excited for her six children – Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, Knox, 6 and Vivienne, 6 – to see the film.
“ Shiloh came to his funeral and [she's] very connected emotionally to him and so she wants to see it most of all,” Angelina said.
