Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman films heading to TIFF 2016


The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced its film lineup for its 41st edition and this year's prorgamme is overflowing with A-list talent. The list of star-studded films includes Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone's romantic drama La La Land and Nicole Kidman's Australia-set drama Lion. The 10-day festival kicks off on Sept. 8.

TIFF's Artistic Director Cameron Bailey and Director and Chief Executive Officer Piers Handling made the announcement live in Toronto on Tuesday (July 26). The festival's Gala screenings include some hotly anticipated titles like Deepwater Horizon (Mark Wahlberg), Denis Villeneuve's Arrival (Amy Adams) and two music documentaries - JT + the Tennessee Kids and The Rolling Stones Ole Ole Ole.

This year's opening night gala honours have been awarded to The Magnificent Seven. The western drama stars Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Denzel Washington and Peter Sarsgaard. The festival will wrap up with the coming of age tale The Edge of Seventeen, starring Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson.
