It really has been a banner tour for the Duchess of Sussex! Meghan has spent the last nine days showing off her exceptional fashion sense, whether it’s wearing new items or bringing out old favourites from her wardrobe. She did it again on Oct. 1!
The 38-year-old stepped out to the University of Johannesburg in a beautiful camel tuxedo dress by Banana Republic, which she paired with nude Stuart Weitzman suede high heels. Her hair was down and her makeup was minimal as she met with officials at the school in a round-table discussion with the Association of Commonwealth Universities, one of her patronages.
Meghan has been wearing tons of affordable style in South Africa, and the Banana Republic look is no exception. The double-breasted trench dress retails for US$139, though it’s only available in white right now, not camel, sadly!
The duchess helped announce three new Gender Grants at the University of Johannesburg, which will apply to that school, Stellenbosch University in the Western Cape province, and at the University of the Western Cape in the Cape Town suburb of Bellville. The Stellenbosch grant will go directly to improving campus safety, according to the Daily Mail. Meghan made a speech on women’s education while at the event.
“The goal here is to be able to have gender equality, to be able to support women as they are working in research and higher education roles,” she said. “And also to be able to have workshops, convene things that are really helping people understand the importance of gender equality. True to what you said, when a woman is empowered it changes absolutely everything in the community and starting an educational atmosphere is really a key point of that.”
