Duchess Meghan is so glam in her first red carpet event as a royal at ‘The Lion King’ premiere

In a very regal appearance, Duchess Meghan stepped out to the European premiere of The Lion King on Sunday (July 14) with Prince Harry at her side – and she hugged Beyoncé!

The Duchess of Sussex made her red carpet debut as a royal looking absolutely stunning in a partly sheer Jason Wu gown, which she accessorized with Aquazzura heels. She carried a simple black Gucci clutch. Harry looked dapper in a simple suit and black bow tie.

The two also got the chance to meet Beyoncé and Jay-Zat the event. Queen Bey voices Nala in the film, and earlier this year, she and Jay-Z dedicated their BRIT Award to Meghan by posing in front of a portrait of Meghan in a tiara in place of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. Meghan’s reaction? Totally relatable, and basically what any of us would do if this happened to us: She sent makeup artist and good friend Daniel Martin a bulging eyes emoji in response to his text about it.

Meghan and Harry also spent time with Elton John and David Furnish, who attended the premiere and greeted the duke and duchess with hugs.

The European premiere of The Lion King was held “in support of the conservation and communities work of His Royal Highness through The Royal Foundation,” according to the Telegraph. Disney will also pledge US$1.5 million to the Lion Recovery Fund in connection with the film, the publication reports.

Conservation and a love of the environment are things that are very close to Harry’s heart, and he shares that passion with Meghan. The duke is a patron of African Parks, and there’s a good chance it will be included in his new charitable foundation with Meghan when it launches next year. So it makes sense the duchess made her first red carpet appearance as a royal to support this important cause!

Meghan has already had quite a busy week. On Wednesday, she was pictured with two-month-old son Archie Harrison while she, Duchess Kate and Kate’s children watched Harry and Prince William compete in a charity polo match.
