When Meghan Markle stepped out for her first solo engagement at the Royal Academy of Arts on Tuesday (Sept. 25), her black Givenchy midi dress, matching clutch and pretty Aquazzura bow pumps weren't the only stars of the show. The duchess's ears were giving off some serious sparkle as she feted the opening of the Oceania exhibit, courtesy of her favourite $12,000 Birks earrings.
The 37-year-old, who often favours delicate baubles, was clearly dressed to impress at the formal event. She frosted herself with the Canadian brand's Snowflake ® Snowstorm Diamond Earrings in White Gold, 2.15 carat dazzlers that are "inspired by the icy beauty of Canadian winters." Having spent seven of her winters in the Great White North, it's no wonder Meghan would love the meaning behind this particular pair. The earrings are available on special order and ship six to seven weeks after purchase.
The show-stopping earrings were the perfect way to top off another sartorial win for the Duchess of Sussex. Looking poised and elegant as she arrived at the event, the former actress wore a Givenchy's Midi Dress with Pleated Sleeves featuring a v-shaped velvet bib, a waist nipped with a velvet belt and a slit up the middle of the skirt. She paired it with her go-to Aquazzura Deneuve Bow Pumps, which retail for $825, and the boxy Givenchy Satin Clutch with Jewelry Clasp.
This isn't the first time we've seen Prince Harry's leading lady sporting the Birks baubles. Back in July, while on a two-day visit to Dublin with her husband, Meghan wore the Snowflake stunners during a visit to the Aras an Uachtarain grounds to meet with the President of Ireland, Michael Higgins, and his wife, Sabina Coyne - plus their two lovable dogs! The royal paired the earrings with a figure-skimming grey dress by her friend Roland Mouret and black suede pumps.
