Princess of Madeleine of Sweden sets a stylish tone – even by royal standards. Currently sixth in line to the throne, the Swedish royal literally grew up in the public eye (and since then, she's hardly ever repeated one of her show-stopping outfits twice!)
Mom to two-year-old Princess Leonore – an adorable style icon on her own – and Prince Nicolas, who celebrates his first birthday on June 15, the stylish royal drew the awe of admirers around the world when she married her husband, British financier Christopher O'Neill, on June 13, 2013, in a sweeping Valentino Haute Couture gown and billowing 4-metre-long train.
Whether its a frothy ball gown fitting for a Disney princess – like the blue tiered confection she wore to the wedding of her sister, Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling in 2010 – or the pretty pink number she dazzled in at on her brother Prince Carl Philip's big day last year – just two days before giving birth! – the princess cuts an elegant figure that's sure to please even the most in-the-know fashion crowds.
She's also a fixture at the runway shows during fashion month and has been know to favour designers like Chloé, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta. The trend-setting royal jetted to Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture in 2013, where she stunned in an all-black ensemble of a lacy blouse and leather skirt with a laser-cut hem.
And while she's always elegant and graceful during public appearances, the princess recently admitted that she never felt quite comfortable with all the attention that comes with being a royal. "I've had this all my life. One would think, and maybe expect, that I'd be comfortable in front of people, photographers and journalists who ask questions," Princess Madeleine said during her first ever joint television interview with her husband. "But I'm really not, I'm quite shy."
Princess Madeleine and her adorable young family recently relocated to London, so there's no doubt the fashion capital will factor into to her always on-point looks. And we can't wait to see what she will step out into next! As we celebrate Princess Madeleine turning 34 today, we look back at some of the memorable outfits over the years that made her a royal style icon.
