The Week’s Best Celebrity Style: Elizabeth Banks, Zendaya, Carey Mulligan and more

For all the spectacular red-carpet events that had A-listers traversing the globe to exotic locales this week (think star-studded premieres in Berlin and Mexico City), some of Hollywood’s most stylish proved that jet lag is no match by stepping up their already strong fashion game. Across the board, embellished and sequin-spattered gowns were the trend of the moment, especially for Carey Mulligan and Dakota Johnson, both of whom opted for shimmery creations worthy of the flashing lights at the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills.

Carey, who recently welcomed a baby girl named Evelyn with husband Marcus Mumford, looked resplendent in an elegantly tiered black dress by Canada-born designer Erdem. The 30-year-old anchored the look with studded, pointy Christian Louboutin pumps – perfect to carry her onto the stage as she accepted the Hollywood Actress Award for her role in Suffragette.

Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota, 26, was poised and perfectly youthful in an embellished Gucci dress with sheer overlay, which she wore to present an award with her Black Mass co-star, Johnny Depp.

Elizabeth Banks, Zendaya and Carey Mulligan out and about this week.

Later in the week, Elizabeth Banks took the embellished look to a whole new level with a frothy chiffon-and-sequinned floral Elie Saab couture gown, which she crowned with a gold leaf-appliqué headpiece at The Hunger games: Mockingjay - Part 2world premiere in Berlin.

Lending the 3-D trend a dose of pared-down cool, Sandra Bullock rocked a trumpet-style Jonathan Simkhai Spring 2016 dress with technical lace and mesh detailing for her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in New York.
