Celebrities who have modelled for designer brands

When Marc Jacobs showed up to the Met Gala with Cher on his arm, little did the fashion world know she was to be the face of his next campaign. Clad in a gothic-style pleated maxi skirt and jacket combination with her black mane in teased waves, the 69-year-old singer still knows how to make a splash.

Singer Ciara was also tapped for a high-fashion gig this year, fronting a sandy campaign for Roberto Cavalli. "I grew up truly admiring the beautiful collections and dreaming of wearing them," the 29-year-old said of the opportunity, adding that she's thrilled to be working with her friend Peter Dundas, now at the helm of the brand.

We’d bet that when luxury fashion house Céline announced Joan Didion as the star of their spring 2015 ad campaign back in January, they didn’t think they would break the Internet. Joan is one of the first authors to pose for a designer brand and, at 80, she looks just as incredible as some of her younger model and celebrity predecessors.

It’s a campaign the world seems to adore for its simplicity and sophistication. Naturally, it called to mind a slew of our favourite ads featuring other A-listers – and there’s been no shortage over the last few years.

Justin Bieber made waves as the face of Calvin Klein, following in Mark Wahlberg’s footsteps by stripping down and getting intimate with a top model.

Noah star Jennifer Connelly also stepped in front of a very fashionable camera (Bruce Weber’s!) to headline the Spring 2015 campaign for Louis Vuitton. The brunette beauty is no stranger to sartorial posing, having formerly modelled for Balenciaga.
