Céline Dion sounds off on whether Jack could have fit on the door in ‘Titanic’

Could Jack have fit on the door in Titanic? It seems like an age-old debate, even though it’s only been raging for 22 years, and it’s something that’s divided fans of the classic film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.

Well, now Céline Dion has weighed in! The Canadian pop music legend, who became famous worldwide due to her performance of “My Heart Will Go On” from the Titanic soundtrack, was asked her opinion when she appeared on The Tonight Show StarringJimmy Fallon on Nov. 15.

Jimmy asked: If Rose had just “scooted over a little bit,” would Jack have made it?

“Don’t put me in trouble. What if they want to do a Titanic number two?” Celine joked, before she shared a unique perspective: Who knows, since no one was really thinking clearly since they’d just gone through the most traumatic event of their lives!

“First of all, if you look closely [at] the picture, Rose is maybe dead or totally frozen, and she’s not quite all there, okay?” she said, before pointing out that Rose really did not need to be asked to move for Jack.

“Second of all, he doesn’t need an invitation. Come on, baby! Make himself comfortable. Jump in. You know?” she continued. “And then who did not think about this guy who is in the middle of the frozen ocean and that maybe all his body is so frozen that he didn’t have the strength to –“

From there, she and Jimmy belted out an impromptu version of the Pointer Sisters’ “Jump for My Love.”

In February, director James Cameron said the entire question was “stupid” when he was asked about it, while Billy Zane (Cal Hockley) said Jack “had to die” when he spoke to People last year.

“I don’t know what else would have done it,” he said. “It had to happen.”

Two years before, Kate said she thought Jack “could have actually fit on that bit of a door.”
