There’s no question Lady Gaga has had quite the impact on the music industry. To make matters sweeter, she can now count Celine Dion as one of her number one fans. The Canadian chanteuse wrote about the “A Star Is Born” leading lady for the TIME 100 Most Influential People issue, and what she said is the sweetest!
It speaks volumes when one of the world’s most beloved and enduring stars gushes about another. “I love Lady Gaga, and I think she’s got one of the greatest voices in the world: powerful, convincing, passionate and sensitive,” the letter began.
The 51-year-old continued: “She’s definitely one of the most inventive artists we’ve ever seen. Her artistic expression has no rules, no boundaries. When she first came on the scene with her outrageous style, she didn’t care what the critics said. She marched to the beat of her own drum, knowing that her message of individuality was a way to express her inner strength.”
The “My Heart Will Go On” singer went on to commend the artist for giving “strength and confidence” to her fans, and endlessly supporting the LGBTQ community. “Yes, she’s an amazing musician, composer, performer and, as we saw in A Star Is Born, an incredible actress,” the mother of three wrote. “But her legacy reaches well beyond show business. She will continue to inspire love and freedom around the world, for generations to come.”
TIME’s annual 100 Most Influential People list recognizes people who have changed the world, and the final list is chosen by the magazine’s editors. Nominations come from the list’s alumni, along with the magazine’s writers.
