Why Olivia Munn doesn’t want to be royalty

Being royalty isn’t for everyone and Olivia Munn knows it! While at Comic-Con promoting her new film Predator on Thursday (July 19), the star opened up to ET about why she’d never want to join the Royal Family and revealed the unexpected ties that the film’s writer-director Shane Black has to the Duchess of Sussex.

While the lavish life of a British royal, with its living in palaces and jet-setting across the globe, is highly appealing to many, Olivia insisted that it’s not the life she’d choose. Having spent decades working towards the success she’s garnered as a model and actress, the 38-yaer-old wouldn’t want to put a stop to all of it. “I don’t want to give up my career. I want my friends to marry princes,” she explained. “When you’re a royal, you have to give things up.”

And when it comes to former actress Meghan Markle’s controversial relatives, Olivia didn’t hold back her true feelings. “Shane Black used to date [Meghan’s half-sister] Samantha Markle, the really crazy sister. I think we should reunite them,” she joked. “I think she’s single, I think he’s single. He could be Prince Harry’s brother-in-law.” She added, “And maybe Samantha would calm down. She’s real angry.”

Sadly, the lead-up to Meghan and Prince Harry’s big day was a tough time for the duchess and Samantha’ father, Thomas Markle, who reportedly suffered health complications that prevented him from attending the royal wedding and walking his daughter down the aisle. In the aftermath of their beautiful nuptials on May 19 – which saw Prince Charles walk the new royal partway down the St. George’s Chapel aisle – headlines have been saturated with negative comments from the Markle family.

Thomas Markle wasn't able to be there for his daughter's wedding day.

The 75-year-old recently opened up to TMZ about his dream of reconnecting with his famous daughter, saying that his one birthday wish would be to “get a laugh out of the duchess.” It’s been quite some time since the father of three saw his daughter and he’s yet to meet his new son-in-law, Prince Harry. Explaining his recent slew of highly publicised interviews, to which the palace has not responded, he said: "I was silent for a full year. I gave another interview to break the silence."
