Shawn Mendes and James Corden fight over a parking spot before hitting the road for Carpool Karaoke

Anyone who drives can relate to the frustration of trying to find the perfect parking spot. Even big names like Shawn Mendes and James Corden get it! On the latest episode of The Late Late Show, the two get into a little parking dispute, proving that Canadians aren’t always nice – all in good fun, though. Besides, with Shawn’s week-long residency on the nighttime talk show, the two had better get along!

The hilarious scene leading up to the episode - and the Canadian’s turn at Carpool Karaoke - shows Shawn parking a gorgeous black Jaguar in James’ rightful spot. Though the “In My Blood” singer is the guest of honour, the talk show host just doesn’t want to let it go. Parking behind Shawn, James gets out of his car in a huff and exclaims: “Hello! Shawn! What’re you doing? That’s my parking space?” The singer, feigning confusion, responds, “Well, it has my name on it.”

Clearly, this was his plan all along! The 19-year-old made his own sign on a piece of cardboard, which he hung over James’ usual sign. “Look, Shawn. I love that you’re here all week. I’m so excited, everyone’s excited, you’re playing songs all night, you’re going to be a guest every day. But you can’t just take my parking space,” the father of three exclaims in the video.

Slowly backing away from James, the Toronto based superstar pretends that he’s “on the phone” with James and the connection is poor. “I’m stood right here. Shawn, what’re you doing? We’re not even on the phone,” he said, repeating his name continuously as the star walked away, saying he’d be in his office napping.

Of course, it was all just fun and games for these two, and we especially love seeing Shawn’s inner comedian come out! While Shawn is in town, he also spent some time filming an epic episode of Carpool Karaoke. On top of belting out hits like “There’s Nothing Holding Me Back” and “Mercy,” the adviser on The Voice told the 39-year-old that he’s officially moved out of his parent’s house and into his own Toronto home! He then admitted to being a Harry Potter super-fan, saying that when he met Hermione (a.k.a actress Emma Watson) he was completely star struck. As if that wasn’t enough fun for fans, James convinced Shawn to engage in a little road rage, going against his Canadian sensibilities once again.
