It’s well known that the Kardashian-West and Legend-Teigen clans are a bunch of beautiful peas in a pod. But when it comes to politics, they’re not always on the same page. On Thursday (April 26), Kanye Westtook to Twitter to share a viral text exchange between himself and John Legend after the singer called the rapper out for supporting Donald Trump .
Kim Kardashian’s husband has been spotted sporting caps reading “Make America Great Again” – Donald’s slogan while he was campaigning to become president. On top of that, the father of three has openly voiced his support for the controversial politician on Twitter. On Wednesday (April 25), Kanye took to Twitter to say, “You don’t have to agree with trump [sic] but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother.”
John reached out to his friend to voice his concern. “You’re way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for. As you know, what you say really means something to your fans,” he texted. “So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause, especially to people of color. Don’t let this be a part of your legacy.”
The 40-year-old promptly texted him back, simply writing: “I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought.” John replied, “Think freely. Think with empathy and context too. Your words and actions have consequences.”
Choosing to keep things light amid Kanye’s tweeting the text exchange, the “All of Me” crooner added a shameless plug for his new single, “A Good Night.” While the exchange was cordial, John’s wife Chrissy Teigen also felt the need to pipe in after she was called out for not speaking up about the ordeal.
The pregnant mother of one tweeted, “Everyone keeps asking me to comment on sh-t. Comment on psycho Tami Lasagna, whom I refuse to give the joy to, say something about RHOA, speak up about Kanye. When it comes to people we know, we DO speak up. To THEM. Not on Twitter. And sometimes, I guess it makes it to Twitter.”
Everyone keeps asking me to comment on shit. Comment on psycho Tami Lasagna, whom I refuse to give the joy to, say something about RHOA, speak up about kanye. Kanye’s wife Kim, meanwhile, was happy to share her views on Twitter, supporting her husband amid his social media tirade. “To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this... your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary. So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair,” she said.
But Kim hasn't lost her sense of humour, and this small rift won't come between her and Chrissy. The supermodel tweeted at the reality star, asking if they're still doing dinner on Friday. Kim simply responsed, "Yes but maybe no phones."
