Pushing back tears, Daisy told Vogue, “I’d never met anyone openly bipolar before, who discussed loving glitter because of her LSD days.” She also recalled some important words of wisdom the veteran dished out on the set of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. When it comes to dating, Carrie told Daisy to be careful because “you don’t want to give people the ability to say ‘I had sex with Princess Leia.”
If anyone knows what 25-year-old Daisy is going through, it’s Carrie. She became an international superstar at the tender age of 21 following the release of the first Stars Wars film in 1977. Decades later, the London native admits that the fame that comes with starring in the world’s biggest franchise still is hard to navigate.
“Everything was so confusing. People were recognizing me—I still don’t know how to handle it,” Daisy confessed, adding, “My skin got really bad because I was stressed. It was crippling. I just felt so seen and so self-conscious.”
The English actress went on to recall a time when she moved into a new apartment building and two fans mysteriously appeared outside the door, “I heard a knock on the door. These two guys went, ‘Hey, Daisy, can I get an autograph?’ and I literally went, ‘No way.’”
While grappling with the negative side of fame, Daisy, perhaps inspired by Carrie’s openness, revealed to Vogue that she sought help from a therapist. “I went and saw a lovely lady. I felt like I was sort of reducing myself because I was so worried that people would recognize me. You know what? I want to dance through life. I don’t want to scuttle.”
