Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest welcomed the Canadian leader to the show, which they are currently filming on location in Niagara Falls. In the beginning of the interview, Justin was in the hot seat when Kelly asked him how his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau feels about him being proclaimed “Sexiest Politician Alive” by Vogue magazine in 2015. Justin admitted that his wife doesn’t agree with the label. "My wife's the one who doesn't believe it. She's like, 'Really?' She knows what I look like when I get up in the morning," he said with a laugh, adding that he looks "a little messier" in the wee hours of the morning.

The conversation then turned to Justin’s father, Pierre Trudeau, and whether or not the current leader’s children will follow in their dad and grandfather’s footsteps to Parliament Hill. While Justin wants his kids to follow their own dreams, he did mention that he would love to see his daughter Ella-Grace, 8, running for office someday. "There is something very special about imagining a woman prime minister. I think it's long overdue. I just don't think we have to wait that long. I think it should be sooner than that," he confessed.

Justin is the first Canadian prime minister to appeared on the American day-time talk show. To celebrate the momentous occasion, Justin took Ryan's phone and snapped a selfie during a commercial break. Monday’s episode also featured an appearance by Canadian actress and Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany.
