How Demi Lovato stays confident both physically and mentally

Demi Lovato has never shied away from sharing her struggles with body image and mental health with her adoring fans. Now, the singer is being even more transparent by revealing how she became more confident, both physically and mentally.

“I feel the most confident when I'm in the gym,” she told US Weekly, adding that working out on a daily basis is very healing for her. “[It’s] definitely therapeutic,” she added. The “No Promise” singer further explained that she tries to clear her head by boxing, kickboxing or training in mixed martial arts such as Muay Thai and jiu-jitsu.

When she isn’t breaking a sweat, the 24-year-old admitted that she shakes negative thoughts by telling herself powerful daily affirmations. “[I] [look] in the mirror, telling myself I'm beautiful no matter what and just learning to accept my flaws for what they are and knowing that, you know, my curves are beautiful, and I am who I am,” she said.

The Hollywood star hopes that by sharing these tips, young women will feel inspired to hit the gym, get healthy and ultimately “feel comfortable in their skin.”
