Angelina Jolie is taking her time recovering following her split from estranged husband Brad Pitt, says her dad Jon Voight. The actor revealed that the mother of six is doing alright and is "holding on".
Jon, who was speaking at the Critics' Choice Awards over the weekend, gave an update on his daughter's situation, telling E! News: "She's okay. She's holding on."
The 77-year-old also opened up about his plans to see his family over the festive period. Jon has already picked out some presents and is in the progress of making travel arrangements.
"Christmas is family, and I have lots of family. I'm hoping to see my grandchildren. I'm hoping to see my grandnieces and nephews and be with them. I'm making the plans now," he said. "By the way, I'm supposed to be making these plane flights right as we speak."
"I have a couple of things that I do for the grandkids," he added. "They look forward to the same things every year. The kids in New York, we get to see a show. So, I get them all tickets to a show that they like."
Jon is a grandfather to Brad and Angelina's six children – Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, ten, and eight-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. As a result of their parents' split, the youngsters are undergoing individual and group counselling.
Angelina, 41, filed for divorce from Brad, 52, in September. The couple were married for two years but were in a relationship for more than a decade. Last week reports revealed that a judge denied Brad's request to keep the divorce court documents sealed.
The motion was brought in by Brad in order to "protect the privacy" of the couple's six children. "I am extremely concerned that if court records regarding custody are not sealed, information contained therein will cause irreparable damage to our children's privacy rights," the actor wrote in a sworn declaration.
In the court filings, Angelina's lawyers claimed the request was a "thinly veiled attempt to shield himself, rather than the minor children, from public view."
Angelina's dad Jon has previously, saying: "I appreciate everybody's concern and their prayers. Hopefully things will work out."
