Britney Spears and Hillary Clinton hung out in Las Vegas

You wouldn't think Britney Spears could still get star struck, but when she met Hillary Clinton in Las Vegas it was a total gush fest. The two icons spent some time hanging out in a hotel room on Thursday (Feb. 18), and the pop star was thrilled to document the experience.

Hillary, 68, was in Nevada ahead of the upcoming Democratic caucus, while Britney is performing on stage as part of her Britney: Piece of Me residency show at Planet Hollywood.

In honour of the meeting, the 34-year-old hitmaker posted two shots of the pair, one more formal and the other candid. In the former, Britney shared her respect for the former Secretary of State.

"Being in Vegas for #PieceOfMe is amazing for so many reasons... Especially today... because I had the incredible opportunity to meet @HillaryClinton!!"

The "...Baby One More Time"singer went on to say "this woman had an intense presence and I felt very honoured to meet her."

She added Hillary is "such an inspiration and beautiful voice for women around the world!"

At first glance, the pairing may seem odd to some of Britney's fans, as she doesn't appear to have much in common with the former First Lady and hasn't been known to endorse political figures for office.

Still the musical powerhouse has, in the past, had positive Twitter conversations with current U.S. President Barack Obama. She also reportedly used Hillary's hashtag #ImWithHer in an original version of her Instagram posts on Thursday.

Other A-listers who have publicly supported the Democrat include Christina Aguilera, Lena Dunham, Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Demi Lovato.
