As close friends Chris Martin and Beyoncé prepared for a milestone halftime show at Super Bowl 50 , Gwyneth Paltrow shared a behind-the-scenes snap from the family affair. Chris's ex-wife showed their daughter Apple, 11, walking hand-in-hand with the Carters' four-year-old Blue Ivy backstage at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco.
"#superbowl50 jacket game," Gwyneth captioned the photo, which is taken from behind and shows the two girls wearing colourful coats as they walk along side by side.
Gwyneth was at the game with both her children, Apple and nine-year-old Moses, to support ex Chris, while Blue Ivy was in attendance with mum Beyoncé, who didn't stop killing the internet this weekend – first with the surprise release of her new single Formation, then her half-time show appearance and finally with the announcement of a new world tour, which begins in June.
Beyoncé and Coldplay joined forces with Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson to produce a spectacular performance, which many, including Ellen DeGeneres, described as the "best half-time show ever".
Chris had explained that Coldplay's headlining set would represent the past, present and future, and joked about how they would fit in all their hits in just 12 minutes. "We decided to play all our no. 1s and then work out how to fill the other 10 minutes," he said at a press conference ahead of the game.
He then reiterated his love for Beyoncé, who headlined at last year's Super Bowl. "We love Beyoncé’s music. She's one of our all-time favourites, and she's one of the greatest performers I've ever witnessed," he said.
Beyoncé, meanwhile, shared some behind-the-scenes photographs taken during dress rehearsals ahead of Sunday's show. In the images, the singer can be seen in her show time black leather outfit practising out on the field as her daughter watches. Husband Jay Z, 46, stands behind the pair, taking a snapshot of the moment on his phone.
