J.K. Rowling aces latest Twitter comeback

When tennis enthusiast J.K. Rowling tweeted, “#SerenaSlam! I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!” in support of American tennis star Serena Williams, an unsuspecting follower got served an overhead slam of a retort. The famed writer didn’t take too kindly to the naysayer's ‘body shaming’ comment made at the expense of the newly minted Wimbledon champion.

"Ironic that the main reason for her success is that she is built like a man,” tweeted a fan, which propelled the Harry Potter author to fire back with the response, “Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You're an idiot.” This isn’t the first time the Scottish writer has responded to mean or derogatory comments made on Twitter. She has battled back against tweets sent by Rupert Murdoch and the controversial Westboro Baptist Church over the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ireland.

The Harry Potter creator didn't mince words when she saw negative comments made about same-sex marriage on Twitter.

As much as she enjoys standing up against negativity on the social media platform, J.K. also shows off her playful side by responding to fan questions and comments. When one follower applauded her for using her voice for good and not allowing fame to change her, J.K. responded in jest with, “It’s changed me a bit, to be honest. I don’t cut my own hair anymore.”

Here are five other J.K. tweets we loved:

The time when she wanted to express herself but had yet to nail down tech talk.

The time when she felt uncomfortable seeing provocative pictures of cast member Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise.

The time when she shared a fan's nightmare.

The time when a fan had her worried.

The time when she spoke the truth about popularity.
