Diary of the Week: Monogram Dinner by Design and the Interior Design Show party

In one of Toronto's most creative and dazzling fundraising affairs, GE Monogram Appliances and Azure magazine transformed the Design Exchange (one of the evening's benefactors, along with Casey House) into a hive of highly stylized dining nooks conceptualized by a bevy of decorated designers. From rustic to romantic, vibrant to pop, the unique spaces housed 140 of the city's finest, who sipped a seemingly endless supply of wine carefully paired with exquisite dishes. At the centre of it all? A toe-tapping ensemble, which later gave way to a DJ that kept table-hopping guests like design guru Sarah Richardson on their feet.

And what's Toronto's design week without the annual kick-off for the Interior Design Show, the city's haven for international and Canadian home decor inspiration housed in the Metro Convention Centre. A well-heeled collection of the industry's top aficionados, hailing from near and far, explored wild and wonderful exhibits at the 17-year-old fair - from MissoniHome's playful installations to Caesarstone's collaboration with Canadian-born, London-based designer Philippe Malouin (hint: swings!). Proceeds were fittingly donated to Habitat for Humanity as guests nibbled on eats from the Food Dudes truck and various stands - and proved the cold doesn't faze Canadians with gourmet popsicles!
