Diary of the Week: James Carville, the Notable Awards and This Hour Has 22 Years

Toronto Raptor Greivis Vasquez and The Social host Melissa Grelo were just a couple of the bold-face names attending the Toronto Notable Awards at 99 Sudbury. Finalists in categories from Architecture to Entertainment packed the room to celebrate the 26 winners, all young Canadian professionals. Local stars such a restauranteur Janet Zuccarini and fashionista Shay Lowe walked away with top honours.

The red carpet was packed with a star-studded roster to celebrate 22 years of This Hour Has 22 Minutes. The event, held at Toronto’s TIFF Bell Lightbox, featured current cast members Mark Critch, Cathy Jones, Susan Kent and Shaun Majumder. Joining in the fun were former cast members, writers and the politicians they’ve spoofed over the years, all sharing their favourite moments. The laughs will continue next week, when 22 Minutes will celebrate with a special hour-long retrospective episode entitled "This Hour Has 22 Years". Here's to another 22!

It is safe to say, that there is no one, and I mean no one quite like James Carville. When news got out that the “Rajin Cajun” would be in town for a special meet and greet at Holt Renfrew Men, Christmas parties were put on hold! Holt Renfrew Men welcomed the political dynamo for the second installment of the Salon Speaker Series, bringing together the world’s leading power-brokers and thought provokers from the realms of business, politics and culture. A room full esteemed Bay Street executives and business leaders joined for a captivating conversation on the current and future state of U.S. politics. It was swell.
