Diary of the Week: Hush Hush and Celebration of Hope

By Amoryn Engel

It was a hip, young set of bookworms who descended on Bloor Street West to check out the scene at the second Hush Hush party, benefiting the Toronto Public Library. After hours, revelers overtook the stacks of the Bloor/Gladstone Library at the invitation of the New Collection, Toronto Public Library Foundation's young patrons group. The historic site underwent a significant renovation in 2009, receiving international accolades for its innovative and sustainable design, green roof and all! The century-old site was the perfect backdrop for the speakeasy theme, but the guests were anything by Hushed!

Loads of ladies literally had their knickers in a twist at CIBC’s Celebration of Hope, in support of the Markham Stouffville Hospital. Fifteen bras, provided by Linea Intima and decorated by a vast array of celebrities, were the centre of attention in the Tata Bra Design silent auction. As if that weren’t enough, Christian LeBlanc – more commonly known as Michael Baldwin on The Young and the Restless – had the ladies in quite the tizzy!
