Ellen Degeneres to host the 2014 Oscars

Ellen DeGeneres will host the 2014 Oscar ceremony, it has been announced.

The talk show host took to Twitter to reveal the exciting news, mocking those long-winded acceptance speeches that awards have become known for. "It's official: I'm hosting the #Oscars!" tweeted Ellen on Friday afternoon. "I'd like to thank @TheAcademy, my wife Portia and, oh dear, there goes the orchestra."

Ellen will take to the stage on March 2, 2014, for the 86th Academy Awards, to act as the ceremony's emcee for the second time after she presented the Oscars in 2007.
"I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time," said Ellen. "You know what they say — the third time's the charm."
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also recently made the decision to elect marketing executive Cheryl Boone Isaacs as its new president. One of Cheryl's first tasks was to confirm who would host the 2014 Oscar ceremony and she wasted no time in giving Ellen the job.
