Did Oprah give Archie some books? It sure looks like it!

Just before Archie was born last year, Oprah Winfrey said she had given Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry's baby a very appropriate gift: some books!

"Honey, I have a standard gift that I do for people that I really care about" she said in April 2019, according to Access Hollywood. "I don't know the baby's name or the baby's gender, but this baby will have enough books to last a lifetime!"

That's why we were thrilled to see the cover of Duck! Rabbit!, which the Duchess of Sussex was reading to her little boy in a new video released to celebrate his first birthday this week. It featured a sticker on its left hand side that read, "Archie's Book Club." It's likely courtesy Oprah herself!

It would be an understatement to say Oprah, who launched her beloved Oprah's Book Club in 1996, is an avid reader. She's helped popularize dozens of new authors such as Jonathan Franzen with the club. She's also used its influence to bring old favourites by the likes of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Toni Morrison back to best-sellers lists worldwide. So if anybody knows about how important reading is from an early age, it's Oprah.

This wouldn't be the first time she's given a celebrity friend some books for their children, either. Mindy Kaling's daughter Katherine received a set of books from Oprah that featured stickers reading, "Katherine's Book Club" on each cover.

Harry and Meghan are keen to pass on their own love of reading to Archie, and it's great to see their friends supporting them with that endeavour. In late April, the Duke of Sussex also filmed an intro for a 75th anniversary episode for Thomas & Friends. He grinned as he sat there reading from a book about the beloved series, of which he was a fan from a very young age. Hopefully he's started to share his enthusiasm for the iconic show with his son!

Happy Birthday, Archie, and happy reading!
