Princess Anne is one of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family – but would you notice if you saw her on the subway? According to a recent report, she went almost incognito on the London Underground!
If you remember, the Princess Royal attended London Fashion Week on Feb. 19, where she presented Rosh Mahtani with The Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design at St. Etheldreda's Church. Well, instead of being driven to her engagement, it seems she jumped on the tube at Green Park station and rode public transportation all the way to St. Paul's station, according to the Daily Mail. That's a 15-minute trip!
"She came through with another older woman and her security," an onlooker told the publication. "We weren't expecting any royalty. Hardly anybody seemed to notice them."
It's unclear whether the Queen's daughter took public transit to the Guildhall for the Euromoney Wealth Management Awards. According to Transport for London, the three shortest trips between those locations are all by bus.
This week, Anne is in Wales, where she's attending a number of engagements in the south of the country before returning to London on March 3. She will begin her day in the UK capital at the University of London's Worldwide Graduation Ceremony at the Barbican Centre. She'll be acting in her official role as the university's chancellor.
Anne will then head off to Suffolk, where she'll chair a management council meeting for the Animal Health Trust before travelling back to London for a University of Edinburgh dinner at St. James's Palace, her official residence. Anne is also the chancellor of that educational institution.
It's really no wonder, based on her fast-paced, packed schedule that Anne is frequently on the top of the list of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family! Last year, she attended a whopping 506 engagements, finishing just behind her brother, Prince Charles, who stepped out to 521 different events. But in terms of the number of days worked, Anne came out on top, with 165 days that contained royal events in her calendar.
Royals fans and those who are visiting London should be on the lookout while on the subway, because who knows... you might catch a glimpse of Anne!
