Clarence House shared the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s official Christmas card for 2019 on Instagram. The card recalls their royal visit to Cuba, particularly the moment they took a joyride in a luxurious car.
"Here is this year’s official Christmas card from The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall," the post was captioned. "The photo was taken in Havana by Ramon Espinosa during the Royal visit to Cuba earlier this year."
They are behind the wheel of the vintage MG TD car and wearing sunglasses. It might not be a traditional wintery holiday card, but royal fans love the fun and memories the Christmas card captures.
"How adorable are you!?" one Instagram user wrote. "Happy Christmas to you."
"Driving into the New Year like . . . Royalty," remarked another.
"The best one yet," said another royal fan.
Some fans also commented that it looks like both Charles and Camilla are driving! Others are hopeful they will still get a card in the mail!
The Christmas card has significance because the Cornwalls made history as the first members of the Royal Family to visit Cuba in an official capacity since it became a communist country in 1959!
The couple’s Cuba stop was part of a larger royal tour of the Caribbean, which also had visits to Barbados, the Cayman Islands, St. Kitts, Nevis, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The busy schedule included a tour of the Molecular Immunology Centre, a meet-and-greet with an extremely rare blue iguana and mojito making!
Prince Charles and Camilla’s previous holiday card was released on Dec. 14, 2018. The card featured a portrait by Hugo Burnand taken of the couple sitting on a bench and looking adoringly at each other.
