This is the top royal event of 2019 so far, according to Hello! Canada readers

How excited were you when Archie Harrison was born in May? The little boy’s arrival is the top royal event of 2019 so far, according to a poll of HELLO! Canada’s readers.

Thirty-five per cent of those who voted in a poll about how the Royal Family is doing picked Baby Sussex’s birth as their royal highlight so far. Royal watchers were thrilled when Duchess Meghan went into labour on May 6, and have been keen to get a glimpse of the little royal ever since.

We’ve seen him several times throughout the year. Two days after his birth, he made his official debut with his proud parents at Windsor Castle. On July 6, he was pictured looking completely adorable at his christening, which was also held at Windsor Castle. Four days later, Archie and his mom stepped out to watch dad Prince Harryplay polo with Prince William, which is where he’s said to have met two of his cousins, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Trooping the Colour, a perennial favourite among royals fans, came in at No. 2 in our poll. This year, Louis made his adorable balcony debut and completely stole the show when he showed off his cute royal wave. His first birthday, which took place in April, came in at No. 4 in the poll.

HELLO! Canada asked a series of questions about the royals in the poll, which included a question about whether Archie should travel with Harry and Meghan on their upcoming trip to South Africa. About 67 per cent of readers think the new parents should take him with them, so it’s clear Archie’s fans are keen to get another glimpse of him – and see him on his first ever royal tour!

Our readers are also keen to see Archie have a brother or sister! Nearly two-thirds (65 per cent) said they would like to see Meghan and Harry have another child. The majority of our readers (45 per cent) said they would also like to see William and Duchess Kate have another child, which would be their fourth.

HELLO! Canada also asked our readers’ opinions on royal parenting, including how men are balancing fatherhood and their duties, along with the importance of maternity leaves for royal women. About 65 per cent said they strongly agree that men such as Harry and William are succeeding in balancing fatherhood with their duties. Meanwhile, about 71 per cent of readers believe it’s very important women such as Kate and Meghan take maternity leaves. A further 19 per cent of readers said they thought it was important they do so.

These happy events might be part of why our readers strongly agree that their feelings about the Royal Family have grown warmer in the past five years. About 54 per cent of people said they strongly agreed with the statement, and a further 29 per cent agreed.

More than three-quarters (76 per cent) of readers said they believe it is very important that William, Kate, Harry and Meghan are representing the Queen now that she’s in her 90s, and about two-thirds (66 per cent) said they believe the Royal Family offers a more positive image on the world stage than contemporary politicians.

The royals remain on holiday right now, but we’ll get the chance to see a rare summer engagement from Kate and William this coming Friday (Aug. 9)! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will race against each other in The King’s Cup regatta, a charity sailing race that will benefit eight causes of their choice. We can’t wait to see them harness the wind!
