Both Archie Harrison’s mom Duchess Meghan and aunt Duchess Kate looked happy and full of joy as they stepped out to celebrate the two-month-old boy’s christening on July 6. And both wore some lovely earring tributes that you may have missed!
Kate subtly honoured Princess Diana – her late mother-in-law and Archie Harrison’s late grandma – by opting to wear the Collingwood Pearl Earrings the People’s Princess wore to Prince Harry’s own baptism in 1984.
Kate has become known for her simple and gorgeous nods to Diana throughout her time as the Duchess of Cambridge, and the happy family occasion was no exception. She made Diana’s earrings look incredibly elegant with her choice of a pink Stella McCartney dress, fuchsia heels and a Juliette Botterill headband.
Meghan looked equally as gorgeous, and her earrings carried a message of their own! The Duchess of Sussex opted for the Cartier diamond baubles she sported during her May 2018 wedding to Harry. Many fans online pointed out that not only was she paying tribute to her nuptials with the $19,600 earrings, but her Dior dress looked very similar to the Clare Waight-KellerGivenchy gown she wore while she said her vows. What a sweet way to honour Harry and Archie at the same time!
“I feel the christening was a moment for her to wear items that link the two events together in a subtle but meaningful way,” stylst Rochelle White told the Daily Mail. “I think Meghan wanted something that wouldn’t take the attention from Archie, but match and compliment his christening outfit.”
In an additional tribute to Princess Diana, the late Princess of Wales’s sisters – Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes – were on hand for the christening. Both were pictured in a family portrait taken after the event, and they can be seen beaming behind Harry and proud mom Meghan, who is holding Archie in the image.
