Each year, the amFar Inspiration Gala raises money for HIV/AIDS research with help from some of the world’s biggest stars.

It's also a veritable parade of eye-popping fashion, as celebrities don their glitziest ensembles for what has become a strictly A-list soirée.

This year's gala was more fashion-forward than ever, with Miley Cyrus and Rihanna strutting their stuff in bold, barely-there outfits.

Miley, 21, wore a sheer black Tom Ford dress with a bondage-inspired bodice to the event, which honoured the designer’s philanthropic contributions to amFAR.

Meanwhile, Rihanna – who spent more than $135,000 on amFAR auctions – slipped into a cleavage-baring white dress with purple sequins on the bust.

Other celebrities were more modest in their fashion choices – like Gwyneth Paltrow's cut-out tuxedo and Sharon Stone's black jumpsuit.
